To celebrate the upcoming final season, American Idol plans to bring back your favorite alumni including A-Listers such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Lambert!
“We will be bringing Idols back in a way that’s organic,” Trish Kinane, president of entertainment programming at FremantleMedia North America, told Billboard.
It’s still way too early to know what to expect, but it’s likely we’ll see MANY past contestants revisit the Idol stage in some capacity. I’m hoping for some cross-season contestant duets (Kelly and Adam singing together, please!), memorable throwback clips and packages, and maybe even unlikely frivolity from characters such as Sanjaya, Bikini Girl, or William Hung! Oh! Or the ‘Pants On The Ground’ guy!
Although interest is not nearly what it used to be, American Idol was a game-changer. In its heyday, it was the perfect topic for office water-cooler gab (and radio content). It fueled many a comments section war. My sister scheduled her college classes around it.
But most of all, it made aspiring musicians’ dreams come true. And in some cases, it even led us to discover our favorite artists! It gave–and continues to give us–MUSIC!
