During an interview with an Australian radio station, Kelly Clarkson alleged that Sony, her record label, pressured her into collaborating with Dr. Luke—the producer at the center of controversy, litigation and allegations surrounding his relationship with Kesha.

Clarkson was clear that her relationship with Dr. Luke is different than Kesha’s, and was also clear that Dr Luke “never did anything like that [alleged sexual assault] to me.”

“He’s just not a good person to me. We’ve clashed,” she explained. “I get along with everybody that I work with. I love everyone I work with and he’s really—he’s just not a good guy.”

Clarkson shed some light on their troubled relationship and the record industry that forced her into the collaboration.

“The last time I worked with him I only worked with him because literally I got blackmailed by my label,” said Clarkson. “It was a really hard time for me. They were like, ‘We will not put your album out if you don’t do this’.”

“We’ve clashed before. He’s difficult to work with, he’s kind of demeaning,” she said. “Obviously he’s a talented dude but he’s lied a lot. Musically it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people and it makes the artist look bad.”

“We have a whole crew to support, people that depend on us for their livelihood so sometimes you have to make decisions that you just have to swallow that pill.’

Last month, Clarkson joined a chorus of fellow artists who showed their support for Kesha, who seeks to extricate herself from a Sony contract.
