Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Invincible’ Video Is All About Empowerment: Watch

Kelly Clarkson’s “Invincible” offers a message of empowerment. It may be about one woman’s (Kelly Clarkson) struggle to control her own career (Clive Davis, body shaming, whatever you’ve got) but the visuals is accompanying video attempts to make that empowerment a universal message.

The question director Natalie Mroczka has to resolve is how to present that ephemeral idea. Given that Beyoncé has already got dibs on a giant screen with the word FEMINIST written on it in all caps, Mroczka opts for a more symbolic take, using squares of light suspended in air along with diverse casting of the dancers/everywoman characters. And this is where the “on a budget” thing kicks in.
