When the First Lady commissions a single, she does it right by calling in the who’s who of contemporary pop and hip-hop music.
Michelle Obama commissioned a charity single, “This Is For My Girls,” to benefit her campaign, 62 Million Girls, and you can finally hear a 30-second snippet.

Missy Elliott, Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monae, Zendaya, Kelly Rowland, Lea Michele, Chloe & Halle and Jadagrace all lend their talents to the track, which has an old school Christina Aguilera feel to it. Co-written by Diane Warren the track features horns, big drums and a load of vocal prowess. “This is for my ladies, like soldiers we stand up/ Remember when Tupac told us ‘Keep our head up’?,” Elliot spits in the clip.
The single is available for purchase on iTunes with proceeds going to benefit Peace Corps Let Girls Learn Fund, which aims to guarantee girls a secondary education.
This isn’t the first time Obama has ventured into music production. She and SNL‘s Jay Pharoah recorded a track urging kids to go to college for website College Humor.
